<description>The assignment of nuclear accents in three different discourse genres : documentaries, TED Talks and interviews
Zabala, Francisco
This dissertation investigates nuclear accent placement across three spoken&#13;
discourse genres in Standard Southern British English (documentaries, TED Talks,&#13;
and interviews) with the aim of determining how canonical descriptions of tonicity&#13;
operate in authentic communicative contexts. Drawing on a corpus of 5,494&#13;
intonation phrases (IPs) and grounded in the British tradition of intonation, the study&#13;
examines (a) the extent to which the main trends in nucleus placement discussed in&#13;
the literature appear in the corpus, (b) how these three discourse genres differ in&#13;
tonicity, and (c) in what ways the deviations from the Last Lexical Item (LLI) Rule&#13;
observed in the corpus are associated with genre-specific discourse practices. The&#13;
findings reveal a strong overall dominance of the LLI Rule, yet they also demonstrate&#13;
that departures occur in highly systematic ways conditioned by genre.

Esta investigación analiza la relación entre sustentabilidad y rentabilidad en el desarrollo inmobiliario&#13;
urbano en Buenos Aires. A partir de un modelo financiero comparativo aplicado a un caso de estudio en&#13;
el barrio de Palermo Chico, se evalúan dos escenarios equivalentes&#13;
—proyecto tradicional y proyecto sustentable— bajo iguales condiciones estructurales de mercado,&#13;
financiamiento y localización.&#13;
El modelo incorpora seis intervenciones técnico-arquitectónicas sustentables (aislación térmica mejorada,&#13;
carpinterías de doble vidrio hermético, equipos HVAC de alta eficiencia, paneles solares fotovoltaicos,&#13;
sistema de recolección pluvial e iluminación LED con automatización) por un sobrecosto de USD 170.000,&#13;
equivalente al 10% del costo base de construcción. El escenario sustentable incorpora una prima de precio&#13;
de venta del 8%, respaldada por evidencia internacional de mercado. Se evalúan los indicadores&#13;
financieros clave: TIR, VAN, margen bruto y payback, tanto desde la perspectiva del desarrollador como&#13;
del usuario final.

<title>Emotional self-disclosure as a resource in the discursive construction of feedback on YouTube product reviews</title>

<description>Emotional self-disclosure as a resource in the discursive construction of feedback on YouTube product reviews
Galende, Edgardo
This dissertation examines emotional self-disclosure as a discursive resource in user-generated&#13;
textual feedback on YouTube. While previous research on online emotions has often focused&#13;
on sentiment analysis or psychological outcomes, less attention has been paid to how emotions&#13;
are linguistically constructed and strategically deployed in specific digital genres. Addressing&#13;
this gap, the present study investigates how YouTube users explicitly express their emotions as&#13;
part of their textual feedback on smartphone unboxing videos.

<title>Experts vs. non-experts : does expertise affect competence when it comes to the translation of culturemes?</title>
<link>http://repositorio.ub.edu.ar/handle/123456789/11622</link>
<description>Experts vs. non-experts : does expertise affect competence when it comes to the translation of culturemes?
Golbert, Marina
The translation of literary works often faces obstacles due to cultural differences between&#13;
source languages (SL) and target languages (TL). These obstacles can hinder effective&#13;
translation, especially when it comes to lexical choices and meanings. Translators generally&#13;
employ creative approaches and techniques to convey cultural nuances, abstract concepts, facts,&#13;
ideas, opinions, and phenomena unique to the SL. This is especially important in the case of&#13;
culturemes, those unique linguistic and cultural elements embedded within a literary work. But&#13;
cultural barriers are not the only aspect that can get in the way during the process of translation.&#13;
More often than not, the level of expertise of the translators can play a decisive role too. Experts&#13;
(professional translators) and non-experts (English teachers) may possess different skills and&#13;
competencies that can affect their work in various ways, such as SL knowledge, linguistic&#13;
precision, literary style, cultural contexts, translations strategies and techniques, among others.
