Usually, the image formed by any optical system is not identical to the object. For each object point position and each pupil, the differences between the ideal and real image are quantified by the wavefront aberration. This function is often evaluated expanding it in Zernike polynomials and finding the expansion coefficients by means of ray tracing. The ophthalmic lens which corrects myopia, hyperopia, etc. is an optical system of current use. For the system ophthalmic lens-eye, the component that limits the aperture of the beam reaching the retina (termed aperture stop) is the iris and its anti-image through the system is the entrance pupil. This pupil is not fixed since its parameters vary when the fixation point eccentricity, the relative location of components, the illumination, the accommodation, the psychophysical state, etc. vary. In previous articles we obtain formulas to calculate Zernike coefficients for a given pupil in terms of those computed for another dilated and decentered pupil. These formulas enable the computation of the corresponding spot diagrams (each point being the intersection of a ray with the image plane). In the present article, considering a system monofocal standard ophthalmic lens-stop, an object lying on the lens optical axis and different fictitious stops, we validate the spot diagrams that result from our formulas comparing them to those obtained via ray tracing.es_ES
